Mice are always foraging for food, whether it's in a farm field, in your backyard or even in your home, they are always looking for food to survive. Make Repairs

Make repairs to your home, especially any holes you may have in your siding, as well as in attached garage walls. Make repairs to garage door seals, to the seals around your front and back doors, as well as seals around your windows. Make repairs to foundation cracks where mice and other pests can make their way into your home.

Clean Your Exterior

Clean up the exterior of your home to remove brush piles where mice could be living in. Keep your lawn trimmed, and plants and other landscaping trimmed back. Also keep dog food, bird seed, and grass seed in air-tight containers to prevent mice from feeding on these items.

Clean Your Interior

Clean the interior of your home to keep mice from wanting to come inside. Sweep floors often to keep crumbs and other food particles off of the floor. Wipe down counters, cabinets and the stove-top to remove crumbs and grease splatters. Also, wipe up spilled water or water leaks from leaky pipes. Mice will also be looking for water, so be sure to clean up any signs of water as well. Use bleach wipes when wiping down hard surfaces, or use soapy water to clean up these areas.

Get A Cat

Cats will chase mice out of your home and keep them away, so if you are looking for a pet that can help you keep pests at bay, a cat may just be the answer. If you have stray cats around your home, keep them around too, they'll help keep mice away as well.

Set Traps

Keep mouse traps set around your home where you may have seen mice previously. Freshen the baits or use poisonous baits and keep them out of reach of small children and pets.

Prevent mice from entering your home, but if you have a mice problem, hire a professional pest control specialist for help getting rid of them.
